Meet my new painting, ‘Mangrove Rhapsody’

Meet my new painting, ‘Mangrove Rhapsody’, inspired by a trip to a mangrove forest here in Abu Dhabi.

I see in these weird plants symbols of resilience and adaptability, representing the ability to thrive in challenging and inhospitable environments. This is all too necessary in this climate, especially for the Bedouin at the desert or, most commonly, the ordinary construction site worker under the 50 degrees sun. Mangroves also symbolize interconnectedness and ecological balance, as their intricate root systems provide home to many species. Grey mangroves are the only naturally occurring evergreen forest in Arabia and support high biodiversity and productivity in coastal areas. So this is the mangrove’s rhapsody, the colourful story of a die-hard, humble, weird plant. 150x120cm acrylic, tempera stick, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencil and acrylic paint markers.
