The immigration tale of my indigenous and Italian great-grandparents

As I’m travelling to Italy, I feel a great need to explore the theme of immigration, deep in my family roots. My great-grandmother was a Brazilian native and my great-grandfather was Italian. When I visited Ellis Island in New York it was so touching to be in the triage place my family arrived in the end of the 19th century… what a wild adventure it must have been. Now I’m doing the trip back to Italy and in my head I seek to reconstruct in auto-reverse this voyage. I feel a great sense of honouring them by seeking to express who I am, authentically, through my art. Now I’m giving a step further, starting this painting. Let’s sail, time to go.
